TJEA Grants

TJEA (Texas Jazz Educator’s Association) is providing jazz grants for elementary, middle school and high school jazz programs. The grants are for up to $250 and they will go to 10 school programs for clinicians, educational materials, or other program needs.
Deadline is October 1 and the grants will be awarded on November 1.
You must be a member of TJEA to apply.

South Texas Drumline Contest, November 5, 2016

Dear Band Directors and Drumline Instructors,

The 10th Annual South Texas Drumline Contest will be held on Saturday, November 5th at the Brandeis High School Athletic Field.

Drumlines can compete in one of three classifications:

Division II Standstill – novice or younger groups
Division I Standstill – more competitive groups
Middle School Division – groups made up of middle school students

Caption awards will be given in each division for:

Best Snare Line, Best Tenor Line, Best Bass Line, Best Cymbal Line, and Best Front Ensemble.

First, Second, and Third place awards will be given in Divisions I, II, and Middle School.  A Grand Champion award will be given to the ensemble with the most outstanding performance of the day.

In addition, we will host a contest for snare, quad or keyboard soloists and snare, quad, bass or cymbal ensembles.  You can register online for any of the day’s events at www.brandeisdrumfest.org.
