The McAllen Town Band is seeking a Director of Bands for their 2014-2015 Season. The director will be responsible for conducting the band at all scheduled rehearsals and concerts. Other duties include preparing recommendations to the executive committee for purchases of instruments and music, concert programing, and serving as chairman of the Personnel Committee by assigning instrumentation of the band.
Currently the McAllen Town Band is made up of local musicians including both current and retired band directors, high school and college band students, former band students, and Winter Texans. The Band performs music at a grade 4-5 level. Rehearsals are from 7:30pm – 9:30pm on Monday evenings at Las Palmas Community Center in McAllen. The Band performs four regular concerts each season in the months of November, December, February, and March. Concerts are Tuesday evenings at 7:30pm at the Trinity Worship Center in Pharr. The Band also presents concerts at Archer Park for the 4th of July, and the City of McAllen’s Christmas Posada. The band enjoys audiences of approximately 1,500 listeners.
Interested candidates will audition by rehearsing with the Town Band followed by an interview. Please contact the McAllen Town Band President, Oscar Medina with questions or to submit a letter of interest. Auditions will be held in the month of April.
